SERVPRO of Missoula is Stronger than Mold!

Beware the Spores

Mold spores are too tiny for humans to see without a microscope, and too tough for anything to kill. Investigators have found mold spores in ancient tombs (Ancient Egypt and Rome, for example) and in glaciers. The spores could have grown into full-blown mold if given enough moisture.

Mold spores float through the air, both indoors and out, so we cannot wipe them out. Mold breaks down dead trees and animals, turning them back into soil, so it’s good in its place, which is outside.

If the humidity is above 40%, mold will flourish. In a building that has suffered water damage, mold will grow within 24 to 48 hours.

If that happens, call us: SERVPRO® of Missoula. Our number is 406-327-9500. We are available 24 hours/day, so we can remove excess moisture before mold has time to start growing. If the mold is already growing, we mitigate the existing damage and prevent additional damage.

Mold can destroy a home, from the curtains to the furniture to the support beams. It can destroy industrial buildings, from concrete flooring to plumbing to the roof and windows.

While a bleach/water solution can kill most visible molds, and it will kill mold spores on non-porous surfaces, it will not harm the spores that are inside porous materials such as textiles or ceramics.

SERVPRO of Missoula

We use techniques and equipment recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with hospital-grade disinfectants.

Mold mitigation is NOT a DIY project. If there is mold, Call the Professionals.

More about Mold

  • Dead mold still causes reactions in people who are allergic to it, so bleach is not enough. At SERVPRO of Missoula, we get rid of the mold on all surfaces (including inside the air ducts).
  • Mold munches down on wood, paper, leather, cotton, wool, silk, linen, ceramic, paint, drywall, insulation, marble, carpet, drywall, and most metals.
  • The safest assumption is that mold will destroy whatever it touches.
  • While people expect mold to grow in bathrooms, attics, or basements, it is not limited to these places. Mold grows anywhere exposed to water.
  • Mold also needs air (just as we do) and something to eat. Mold eats almost anything.
  • Normal cleanliness cannot defeat mold, which hides inside drywall, in crawl spaces, and in leaking roofs.
  • There are over 10,000 species of mold, with only 5 species being able to grow indoors.
  • The experts who identify mold species are not the same people who mitigate mold damage.
  • Molds produce musty odors, which provide clues that mold is present even when it is hidden. SERVPRO of Missoula gets rid of the mold colonies, removes the odors, disinfects all surfaces, and reduces the moisture that supports mold growth.
